Mounting and Stretching

The backing used for each piece is based on a careful decision that balances the reversibility of the mount and strength needed to properly support your artwork.  We use the least invasive method possible while ensuring that your art will hang beautifully for the life of the piece.  Some of these methods include the use of Japanese paper hinging, acid-free linen tape, removable mounting tissue, or sewing your piece with clear or cotton thread.  Stretching of fabric art is done on acid-free backing with stainless steel pins.

Cardboard, masking tape, scotch tape, rubber cement, cheap glue… We’ve seen it all, but we won’t touch that stuff here. At The Frame Dames, we won’t do anything to your artwork that will cause damage over time.
